AC Councilman Calls Radio Show to Discuss $250k Scholarship Mess

Greater detail was shared about a $250, 000 scholarship fund discussed by Council on Dec 14, 2016. Atlantic City Councilman George Tibbitt called into WOND Radio’s Kevin Hall Show.

For the past year, Tibbitt has requested a full accounting of these funds that were to be distributed to needy students in Atlantic City. Who are the AC kids that received these scholarships? asks Tibbitt.

According to Councilman Speedy Marsh, the scholarship funds were to be administered by the Schultz-Hill Foundation. Gary Hill of the foundation told ACprimetime “NO…..those dollars went directly to ACCC, the Atlantic County Community College.”

Tibbitt was not happy to learn that students were locked into just one school. He thought students should have a choice in schools. Tibbitt also questioned the stealth nature of the scholarships. Why weren’t local AC families made aware of these scholarship opportunities?
