Bally’s Dennis Tower is Black Eye for Atlantic City

Downsizing from 12 to 8 casinos, virtual bankruptcy and a State takeover, Atlantic City had no choice but to wake up. Re-invention & updating it’s attractiveness to visitors is finally job #1 for Atlantic City. Unfortunately, Bally’s Casino, part of Caesars Entertainment, didn’t get the memo.

To be fair, Bally’s is perfectly positioned in the middle of the Boardwalk with great views and many nice features; a Boardwalk Saloon & concert hall, millennial friendly, ‘value pricing’, Harry’s Oyster Bar, and a lively / loud beach bar.

Bally’s Atlantic City opened in 1979. The Marlborough-Blenheim Hotel stood on the site before the casino was built.

But the infamous ‘Dennis’ tower inside Bally’s is something that still needs to be avoided if possible. The run-down, semi-creepy stack of rooms inside the Dennis Tower not only disappointments most Bally’s customers, it also gives a black eye to a renewed Atlantic City.

Is Bally’s Casino leaving a bad taste in the mouth of those who give Atlantic City another chance?

Will Kevin Ortzman, President of Bally’s & Caesars AC fix this problem? As a newly appointed board member of the CRDA; Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, Mr. Ortzman is now in a better position to help spend those (IAT) casino taxes for the betterment of Atlantic City. His Bally’s Dennis Tower might be a good place to start….like….yesterday.

Not a great visit and poor room conditions.

Stayed down at the hotel this last weekend and was given a room in the Dennis Tower. Upon going to our room, which was not in great condition and had a strong odor of cigarette smoke ( non smoking room) and the hallway leading to the room was completely filthy. I went To get another room and upon arriving ( same tower) the room was noticeably smaller and completely outdated , and had a window view that faced six inches from another wall.

After this experience and getting completely overcharged for a poor facility and being forced by them to pay more money, the experience was less than adequate. I do not think I will be staying at Bally’s again ( we had stayed there multiple times in the past). I will take my business elsewhere.

Room location was great, close to elevator. Facing the ocean was beautiful. Room was old, not nice, soiled carpet, chipped furniture. Not enough outlets in room with cell phones, and lap tops. The bagel & breakfast place is gone which was a disappointment.

Bally’s in Atlantic City isn’t very clean. It’s run downed old Dennis tower is totally gross. I complained and was moved into the Bally’s tower. Not much better to be honest. The room was cleaner a nicer view. Personally I will not recommend this casino.

Room Tip: Stay away from Dennis tower

The room was in the Dennis Bldg which is an original AC hotel now attached to the casino property. The view outside was gorgeous but inside the room was in need of many repairs. Wallpaper was peeling off, the shower was moldy and a piece of the handicap bar was broken off, and the bar lock on the door was missing the bar.

I called to ask to be moved and was told there was no more rooms but they would send a locksmith to repair the lock. It never happened. As a woman traveling alone the location of the room without the added lock did not make for a relaxing stay. The beds were very comfortable and there were both a mini frig and in room safe. This architecturally beautiful hotel needs some love and attention.

Good example of dying AC. Atlantic City is dying and no better example is Bally’s. Hotel room is overpriced. They nickel and dime you for every cent they can get from you for the pool (yes, they charge extra even if your staying at the hotel), valet parking and gift shops with ridiculously priced items. Room was borderline clean. It was dusty and needed some work. If you don’t mind being ripped off, this is a good place to stay. When you leave, you will feel taken advantage of – stay away.

Honestly, my feeling is that every hotel in Atlantic City is probably on par with Bally’s. Atlantic City’s problems are systemic. People don’t care and show it. Hotels are just trying to grab every penny before the complete exodus.

Fun, Lucky, Needs a good cleaning and makeover.
My son had a roach crawl into his beer. I never take a big purse or stay over here if I can help it. I love the casino. I find the staff very nice and the dealers very personable. I just wish it was cleaner.

Don’t waste your time or money on this supposed 3.5 star rated hotel/casino.

Everything that you’ve heard about AC being run down is true. The carpet, the bathroom … all old and moldy. And that was with a supposed upgrade. I asked housekeeping to run a vacuum over the carpet in the stairs in particular every day we were there and it never happened.

These hotels and casinos are no longer worth the drive from Philadelphia. The casino’s don’t offer any perks for us to make that trip. I can gamble and get free drinks right here in Philadelphia. Also there aren’t many things going on in the casinos

Avoid the Dennis Tower!
Used the auto check in feature for the first time which was nice but was placed on the 4th floor in the Dennis tower. Not nice, this area needs to be renovated in a bad way! Room was small and smelled of urine and topical cleaner. Elevators look like they’ll fail at any time. Stairways are scary. Just. Stay. Away.

Quite literally the worst room I was ever in.

I have stayed in a lot of dive motels at the Jersey Shore in my youth ,but the room at Bally’s top them all. mildew, dust, fixtures that did not work it was really really bad. Is definitely in need of an up keep.

Beautiful Room & View but Bally’s is a Mixed Bag.
Booked Bally’s Tower because they told me the tower is nonsmoking & they fine $250 for smoking. 2 days the hall was full with smoke like a smoke bar throughout the day. The cleaning person was present and could have reported it but it continued. One night our room was like a smoke bar the entire night; I got very ill – it ruined the rest of our vacation. I have wearing air purifiers but you can’t wear them while sleeping.

Bally’s is trying to attract millennials — not people over 40. The music is louder than loud anywhere you go and on their beach. Better to go over to Caesars beach – peaceful ocean. Went to Bally’s Oyster Bar Restaurant which I’ve been to several times in past years – it’s changed. They blasted Friday night kind of music on midweek lunchtime – everyone who came through there was over 40 and most didn’t want to stay inside as a result – though a couple looking in their 70’s did (it was just them and me). I asked if the music could be lowered and was treated like I was a weirdo; they didn’t lower it. They cater to their employees not their customers.

Dirty & Old Rooms. The reservation process is misleading. Called & made a reservation. Received two confirmation numbers & paid a deposit. Then I completed the early check in on-line because we were going to be late.

Got there and they could not accommodate our reservation. In the end we got two rooms in the Dennis Tower. It was dirty, old, smelled like smoke & pot although it was said to be a non-smoking room & hall. Will never stay there again. Very disappointing!
