CRDA OK’s Updated Tourism District Master Plan in Atlantic City

CRDA Lance Landgraf Atlantic CityWill the new Tourism District  Master Plan help attract business & development to Atlantic City? That’s the hope as the CRDA, Casino Reinvestment Development Authority, just ok’d a refreshed master plan.

Why an updated master plan? First off, it’s common to do this at least once, every 10 years. Secondly, Atlantic City and the CRDA have never won any ‘business friendly’ awards, so this document looks to streamline the process of doing business in Atlantic City.

LISTEN > Lance Landgraf, CRDA Director of Planning, discusses Tourism District Master Plan.

This updated / amended Master Plan will provide long-range vision for the critical Atlantic City Tourism District. It guides appropriate use of lands in order to protect the public health and safety, and to promote general welfare.

Updated Atlantic City Tourism District Masterplan will reduce red tape, cumbersome regulations, outdated ordinances, hearings, bureaucracy, etc.

The new Atlantic City Tourism District Master Plan will allow more ‘mixed-use’ development….like a polercoaster, water park or bar/restaurant.

The land-use regulations’ 25 objectives include providing a zoning scheme to catalyze development and maintain public confidence in the casino gaming industry as a unique tool of the city’s urban redevelopment.

The AC Tourism District came under control of the CRDA / State in 2011.  It includes the Boardwalk, Marina District, Gardner’s Basin, and the Tanger Outlets retail area.
