ACvets.org & Mayor Guardian Assist in ‘Operation Stand Down’, Helping Veterans in Need

Over 300 military veterans in need gathered at the All Wars Memorial Building on Adriatic Ave in Atlantic City on Wednesday May 17. ‘Operation Stand Down’ was underway.

Veterans in need, some homeless, came together for a broad array of free services and assistance including: VA benefits help, medical, mental health and addiction counseling, welfare benefits, legal services, housing, employment, haircuts, and clothing provisions.

On the local level, ACvets.org ‘s Tony Mazzone came up extra-strong for this one. Mazzone was able to schedule a bus for Vets in need of a ride…. many thanks to Atlantic County.

Mazzone, an Atlantic City native, also had 10 volunteers helping out, including AC Mayor Don Guardian and Freeholder John Carman.

Federal, State, public and private agencies were also there… like the VA, the NJ Dept Of Military & Veterans Affairs, Red Cross, Catholic Charities and others.

ACvets.org teamed up with the Community Food Bank of South Jersey. They distributed two tons of food items….to over 300 needy veterans: 17 palates of non-perishable vegetables and fruit.
