Atlantic City Boardwalk Committee Meeting Notes

AC Boardwalk Chairman,Tom Lamaine, opened the meeting.

CRDA:

  • Entered into a modified agreement with Steel Pier to secure the completion of the Pier’s Observation Wheel project. The Observation Wheel is expected to be operational by July, 2017.
  • Authorized Spectra Venue Management to replace 50 exterior fire-rated doors along Mississippi Avenue side of Boardwalk Hall to be completed within two months.
  • Approved improvements to the data floor box gaskets at the Convention Center. These new gaskets will replace deteriorating gaskets throughout various exhibits.
  • Approved a lease agreement with the Miss America Organization for interior office space at Boardwalk Hall. The MAO is scheduled to move into the office space on April 1, 2017.
  • Authorized a lease for the operation of a Starbucks franchise on the west side of Boardwalk Hall with an entrance directly from the Boardwalk (formerly the Boardwalk Hall Box Office which is being moved inside the building.) A projected opening date for the Starbucks has not yet been determined.

ACPD:

Operations Division started a directed patrol initiative focusing on beach blocks in high crime/hot spot areas. If successful, will move to other areas. Division is working together with code enforcement.

Department of Licensing and Inspections:

  • Ten (former REVEL) plans to open in January 2017. They are working on getting their mercantile license. Former Taj employees have been hired for crucial positions.
  • No update on the AC Club other than it has been shown.
  • Now that casinos in North Jersey have been voted down maybe we will get some decisions on Trump Plaza.

Other:

  • The 3-D light shows at Boardwalk Hall are supposed to start for the holidays.
  • The new ACPD camera/security center ready by January 2017
  • The next meeting will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 9:30 A.M. at Boardwalk Hall in Room 150.
