Atlantic City Casino News Update, Lot’s Of Jobs, Not Enough Qualified Applicants.

Hard Rock Atlantic City Receives New Jersey Casino License

It’s official. The Hard Rock Atlantic City has been granted a license to reopen their Boardwalk casino. The Hard Rock is totally redone property at the site of the former Taj Mahal casino. June 28 is the opening date. The Ocean Resort—former Revel — will also open on the 28th. That’s a butt load of jobs to be filled. Where they gonna find close to 6,000 workers?

Hard Rock Atlantic City is partnering with the casino union [Local 54] to offer jobs to graduates of Drug Court. Graduates who undergo drug court programs, and graduate, are encouraged to apply for employment with Hard Rock Atlantic City.

Drug Court is being renamed Recovery Court

Workers Needed. Atlantic City was hit hard by casino shut downs. The opioid epidemic increased at the same time.

Hard Rock has to fill 3,500 job positions. The former Revel, Ocean Resort Casino needs thousands of new workers too.

Thus, companies like the AC casinos are in need of talent. Many moved away after the 2014 shutdown of multiple AC casinos.

Back in Feb, Local 54’s Bob McDevitt told Casino.org that young people are not staying around. Millenials don’t see a ton of opportunity.

Maybe that’s why Hard Rock is the first Atlantic City casino to look to the region’s drug court for potential employees.

Will new casinos help local Atlantic City residents?

FROM PRESS OF ATLANTIC CITY — For the residents and businesses at the north end of the Boardwalk, the idea that the June 28 openings of Ocean Resort Casino and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City will usher in a new era is one they have heard before.

And not everyone is buying into the hype.

“Don’t do us any good,” John Rice, a lifelong Atlantic City resident, said of the impending casino openings. “It was better before the casinos got here. Everything’s gone now because of the casinos.” Read More in Press of AC
