Atlantic City Council’s Beef About Beach Concerts, Delay Rolling Chair Rules Again.

Even after two months of delays, Atlantic City Council once again postponed their vote on new regulations for the Boardwalk’s rolling chairs and trams.

Director of License & Inspections; Dale Finch, said City wants to mandate compliance for simple, base level of performance and image from Rolling Chairs operators. Financial penalties, if OK’d, would be levied for ordinance violations on chair owners, rather than the operators.

Council President Frank Gilliam: The look of Rolling Chair operators? Not a pleasant look.

Council also seemed quite disturbed that the upcoming beach concerts, featuring Maroon 5 and Rascal Flatts didn’t get their blessing.

Councilman George Tibbitt in particular, had some steam coming from his ears over this issue. Tibbitt says council just found out that concert promoter; Live Nation, didn’t plan on using local vendors like Ducktown Tavern or Sack o’ Subs.

Most of council concurred. They want more details about the Live Nation contract. How much $ will the city get, and why local vendors are not being used this year.

Tibbitt also wondered out loud why a Bart Blatstein (‘The Playground’ developer) wouldn’t be considered for concert promoter duties.

Council reminded attendees… they want authority over re-development in ALL of Atlantic City, not just smaller segments of it.
