An Atlantic City councilman is taking aim at a NJ State Assembly seat.

He’s Councilman Jessie Kurtz, who represents Atlantic City’s 6th Ward. The father of 6 is in his second term on City Council.

NJ Assemblymen Vince Mazzeo and John Armato are both vulnerable.

While Kurtz is the early favorite, there could be other candidates.

  • Amy Gatto; Atlantic County freeholder.
  • Somers Point Councilman; James Toto
  • Ventnor Mayor Beth Holtzman; the extreme long shot.

Atlantic County Republicans need to strike while the iron is hot. Are they up to the challenge?

Mazzeo, owner of BF Mazzeo, won an Assembly seat in 2013. He got lucky while incumbent John Amodeo was caught snoozing. Mazzeo won by only 40 votes.

In 2017, both Mazzeo & Armato easily beat Vince Sera of Brigantine, by well over 5,000 votes.

In 2019, Mazzeo was re-elected by a much slimmer margin, only 2,305 votes.

Key Take-Away: Both Mazzeo & Armato are vulnerable.
