Atlantic City Firefighters: Double-Duty During Holiday Season

Atlantic City Fire Department

During the holidays, Atlantic City firefighters are on voluntary double-duty. In addition to fighting fires and saving lives, the ACFD makes sure Atlantic City residents in need, are taken care of during the holiday season.

The Annual ACFD Turkey Drive distributed hundreds of turkeys to local Atlantic City residents. Members of the ACFD made it possible for everyone living in the city to have a nice turkey dinner for Thanksgiving 2017.

Operation Warm is now underway, a program started in 2012 by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Union. The program helps ensure no child is without a warm coat this winter. This boosts school attendance, self-esteem, and overall health & well-being. Atlantic City firefighters rely on school counselors and administrators to help identify children in need. Members of Engine 1, Engine 7, and Ladder 1 began distributing coats to the first round of schools and will continue the effort til every school helped.

The Atlantic City Firefighters Toys For Children Drive is now underway at the Tanger Shopping Outlets. Collections will continue every weekend, leading up to Christmas day.

AC firefighters will be found on Tanger Outlet street corners hoping you’ll help fill their boots. 100% of money collected stays right here in Atlantic City and will be used to buy toys for kids in need.

ACFD works with school administrators, city officials, church leaders, hospital administrators, The Rescue Mission and local businesses to help identify the children and families in need.

Over the years the ACFD toy drive has seen terrific growth. Success would not be possible without the help of visitors, residents and the local businesses of Atlantic City.
