Atlantic City Boardwalk

Boardwalk Committee Meeting Minutes, report submitted by Sherrie Kendall.

Smart use of funds by the CRDA: Tourism District Officers. Foot units now started in Back Bay Maryland area recently.

Class II officers now patrolling the Boardwalk. To date, 80 Boardwalk summonses have been given out, most for off-hour, non-permitted bike riding on the Boardwalk.

The Boraie property should be breaking ground in the fall. Stockton should be breaking ground after Labor Day.

Many wonder: any shows at the Pinky Pavilion (in front of Boardwalk Hall) this summer?  Lack of funding removed popular concerts and plays. There is also no $ for concerts at Gardner’s Basin.

The CRDA Summer Farm Market returns to Center City Park this summer on Thursdays only.  It began July 7 and will run through September 29.

The CRDA is working closely with the Miss America Organization and Dick Clark Productions on the New Year’s Eve cutaways during the 6 ABC NYE broadcast.

The Atlantic City Airshow is scheduled for Wednesday, August 17 from 11am to 3 pm.  The week will once again kick off with the annual Salute to Armed Forced Parade on Monday, August 15 at 6:30 pm from New Jersey Avenue to Albany Avenue.  A preview Airshow Practice Day takes place on Tuesday, August 16 with many of the acts practicing over the beaches and skies

Construction on the Boardwalk near Atlantic Club – What’s happening there?  New pilings have been put in, but they need to settle in, for at least a week before next step in process.

Concerns were raised about the proposed ‘Open Container’ law (Booze on Boardwalk).  Where does it stand?

Is there a map or plan where the new parking meters are going? When does installation begin? Will it be promoted so residents and visitors will know about the upgrade?

Our 2 cents:

As of this writing, a new Bike ordinance might be in effect. Riding is now permitted til 12 noon? Caution: Dense Boardwalk crowds and bikes often do not mix. Please exercise caution. Question: are motorized bikes allowed? While some are slower ‘pedal assist’, some clowns are attaching more powerful motors to their bikes and can hit speeds of 25+ mph.
