City Council of Atlantic City Starts 2018 in Typical, Cringe-Worthy Fashion

Flip a coin Marty? You scared? During their first meeting of 2018, Councilman Mo Delgado took a variety of pot-shots at Council President Marty Small. This was just prior to a major vote. Members of council were ready to choose between “New Mo Dee” and Marty for the 2018 Council presidency seat. This gavel holding position not only provides more prestige, but an extra 2 grand in your annual paycheck. Marty won along party lines.

“Mighty Mo” or “New Mo” if you prefer, seems to relish his role as Mayor Gilliam’s hammer, always at the ready to pound away on Team Small as Gilliam keeps his hands clean.

Battle #1. Marty wants Council to meet only once a month. One time per month is good enough for right now. Otherwise there will be “chaos” says Small. Delgado disagrees and wants two. “Meetings are not the only duty of councilman” say Small & Delgado. Mo shakes his head in agreement. “I can attest to that.”

“Please follow procedure” asks Marty. Mo disrespects Marty and replies: “you were wasting time by elaborating.”

Our 2 cents: After watching the JAN 1, 2018 meeting video, looks like Mighty/New Mo may need to review Robert’s Rules of Order, a guide for conducting meetings . The book is recognized as “the most widely used reference for meeting procedure and business rules in the English-speaking world.”

Atlantic City Council Positions Should Require a Job Description.

Kool Moe Dee

Residents want to hold elected officials, like ‘New Mo Dee’, more accountable on a monthly basis. Especially because council positions enjoy $26k in annual salary, along with a Cadillac health plan for their families. And let’s not forget about pensions and other percs.

A monthly, written report from each councilperson will hopefully, and soon, be required.

Each councilperson should briefly list their accomplishments, challenges, thoughts on key issues, and other items of note.

We especially look forward to a report from New-Mo Dee, not to be confused with 80’s rap star, Kool Moe Dee.

Press of Atlantic City was one again voted as the ‘Newspaper of Record’ for sharing legal notices.

Immediate and well deserved eye-rolls came from Big Mo. Both he and Kid Councilman voted no, presumably well aware that readership of the Press of AC, especially with inner city residents, is almost non-existent.

Calls for the development of a black and brown owned media company in Atlantic City continue. We fully support that effort. WATCH VIDEO:

City Council of Atlantic City gave the new kid a job that nobody wants.

This position doesn’t seem to be very popular; a member of the Purchasing Board. Like throwing a hot potato back n forth.

Newbie Council-kid, Jeff Fauntleroy was clearly disgusted with one of his new responsibilities. New-Mo asks Jeff if he wants the gig. “Yeah sure”.

It was funny, but also sad, to watch this embarrassing council interaction. See video:
