Historic Gardner’s Basin is celebrating it’s 40th birthday this year. Gardner’s Basin is owned by the City of Atlantic City. The Historic Waterfront Foundation leases and runs it. It was developed using some funding from Green Acres grants that are earmarked for creating and protecting open space.

Bars and Restaurants, Crafter’s Village, Atlantic City Aquarium make up Gardner’s Basin.

State officials have scolded the city for trying to develop this Green Acres land for alleged non-compliant use. A small rum distillery was being planned for Gardner’s Basin and was recently scuttled.

Watch for Gardner’s Basin and the southeast inlet area (once home to the iconic Starn’s & Hackney’s restaurants) to increase in value. The rebuilding of the Boardwalk along Absecon Inlet is now underway. The Army Corp of Engineers are now building & extending a new boardwalk and seawall to Historic Gardner’s Basin.
