State Judge Julio Mendez ruled against the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority’s (CRDA) plan to acquire the ‘Birnbaum’ property in Atlantic City. The state agency was told they can’t take a three-story home owned by Charlie Birnbaum through eminent domain.
The CRDA can’t proceed unless it presents a concrete plan to redevelop that parcel.
The state wants to add that property to the ever-expanding tourism district near the shuttered Revel Casino Hotel. Judge Mendez noted the uncertainty of various plans and the ability of the CRDA to implement those plans in a timely manner. Read more at Philly.com
