Longport Media Sells 102.7 Radio, Replaced By Christian K-Love Format

K-LOVE now on 102.7 FM in South Jersey.

A media company called Educational Media Foundation (EMF) has purchased WWAC-FM, better known as AC 102.7, from Longport Media.

EMF is headed by Alan Mason, who owns more than 250 stations nationwide, many featuring the K-Love music format.

Longport Media is co-owned by local atty George Miller, along with Drew Katz.

Observers see the sale as a way for Longport Media to raise cash in order to prop up Longport’s remaining portfolio of radio stations.

The sale of WWAC comes following a May 2018 report in ACPrimetime.com that Dave Coskey was ousted as President/GM of Longport Media after seven tumultuous years in that position.

Coskey was unable to leverage the internet and other digital tactics critical to the radio business. This likely played a part in Coskey being shown the door last year.

Longport Media LLC part ways with WWAC-FM 102.7 in Ocean City, N.J.

“AC 102.7” was lucky to fetch $570,000. It’s not easy selling radio commercials these days, says ACprimetime’s Mel Taylor. As the internet becomes advertiser’s first choice for marketing, most old-school media (radio and newspaper) will continue to struggle, downsize and be forced to re-invent themselves. So far, radio stumbling in that area. Badly.

As predicted, Paul Kelly, general manager of Longport Media, ‘did his best to spin news of the sale,’ says Taylor. Kelly claimed: “This transaction puts us in an even stronger financial position to deliver compelling content for our listeners and tangible results for our advertisers across all of our stations and platforms.”

Other stations owned by Longport Media, based in Linwood, NJ include WOND 1400 AM and WMGM FM 103.7.
