Tick-Tock… Guv Skeptical of Atlantic City Mayor’s Biz Planning

NJ Governor Chris Christie can’t wait to see Atlantic City Mayor; Don Guardian’s fiscal recovery plan.

LISTEN to the monthly NJ 101.5 “Ask the Governor” radio show where Mr. Christie says “tick-tock, tick-tock”…..

The city has til Nov. 3 to craft an acceptable five-year financial plan. If it stinks, the state will takeover. The Guv is not confident in the City’s ability to get the job done.

Atlantic City has a $44 million budget deficit and is $550 million in debt.

A fiscally lame plan will invite the state to sell city assets and re-negotiate with public unions. If NJ gives a thumbs down, they will then drive the municipal bus of AC for five years. The Mayor & Council will be relegated to passenger status.

The so-called Atlantic City Recovery Committee will meet on June 28.

Mayor Guardian declined Christie’s offer of help says the GUV. “The mayor was going to solve this problem on his own. Just let Don Guardian at the problem, he was going to fix it. Well Don Guardian has the problem now.”
