NYE Show Cancelled

Is concert promoter Live Nation having trouble getting A-level acts for Atlantic City? The planned New Year’s Eve Concert at Boardwalk Hall has been cancelled, at least for this year… says the CRDA; Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, this bad news also means that Atlantic City won’t be featured on “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” on ABC-TV.

CRDA wanted to sponsor a New Year’s Eve concert in Atlantic City at Boardwalk Hall, but they claim that scheduling conflicts killed the show.

Can the CRDA be happy with yet another Live Nation scheduling glitch? The late and tepid beach concert line-up for Summer 2016 suggests that could be true. Live Nation’s ability to grab A-level acts for Atlantic City’s beaches and Boardwalk Hall could be hampered by competitive bookings in Philly, North Jersey and the local casinos.

Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian spoke about the cancellation on WOND Radio on Monday afternoon, NOV 28th. Mayor Guardian; who is also a board member of the CRDA, says he’s not sure who to blame for the cancellation. Radio reports suggest Live Nation has been working on this show since the Summer.

Guardian, who’s running for re-election, reminded the WOND radio audience of his disdain for the Miss America Pageant.

Guardian says AC needs millennials, not an audience of teens and grandparents who love Miss America. The Mayor’s awkward statement was fact-checked and was deemed in-accurate. With Dick Clark Productions support, Miss America ratings have substantially increased with younger demographics over the past two years.

Questions : Does CRDA consider promoters like AEG, the other heavy-weight concert promoter? Does CRDA still have exclusive beach concert deal with Live Nation? We hope not. Tickets for the New Year’s Eve concert at Boardwalk Hall were to be sold by Live Nation.

If CRDA & Atlantic City were to ALSO work with promoters like AEG…and other independent promoters, we would be more likely to see shows like these….more often:
  • Bon Jovi
  • Bruno Mars
  • Carrie Underwood
  • Taylor Swift
  • Kanye West
  • Kenny Chesney
  • Alicia Keys
  • George Strait
  • Paul McCartney
  • Bruce Springsteen
  • ZZ Top
