One New Jersey lawmaker thinks legalizing marijuana in Atlantic City could help spur an economic upswing. According to Townsquare News, Assemblyman Reed Gusciora will introduce legislation next month to make recreational marijuana use legal in Atlantic City. Legalizing pot in the resort town would attract out-of-staters and a new generation of gamblers, Gusciora said.

  • Twenty-three states and Washington DC have legalized marijuana.
  • Four states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana for recreational use.
  • In Alaska, adults 21 and older can now transport, buy or possess up to an ounce of marijuana and six plants.
  • Oregon adults can possess up to an ounce of marijuana in public and 8 ounces in their homes.
  • Colorado and Washington OK’d legal marijuana in 2012.
  • Delaware decriminalized the private use of up to an ounce of marijuana, replacing penalties with a civil fine.

Other states have passed medical marijuana laws allowing for limited use of cannabis. Some states have passed laws allowing possession of cannabis oil if they suffer from certain medical illnesses. Recently, Georgia legalized the possession of up to 20 ounces of cannabis oil.
