Trump Plaza To Be Demolished on Atlantic City Boardwalk

By Spring 2018,  the former Trump Plaza Casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk could become a pile of rubble. Plans for a controlled implosion will bring the structure down in the very near future.

The former hotel and casino on the Boardwalk was closed in September 2014. It was one of four casinos in Atlantic City to close that year.

Carl Icahn took over the Trump casino properties when he bought Trump Entertainment Resorts out of bankruptcy. In March 2017, the Trump Taj Mahal was sold to Hard Rock International.

Trump Plaza in Atlantic City could be imploded in next few months

Great location in the middle of the Boardwalk, but poor layout scared away those who might want to revive the casino business there.  into a modern gaming hall.

There could be a walkable space connecting the Boardwalk and the Tanger Outlets.

No demolition permits has been filed as of yet, but the Trump Plaza could become a pile of rubble before Spring 2018.

The growing threat to Atlantic City’s casino industry:

  • Pennsylvania online gaming
  • Slot machines at truck stops and airline terminals
  • Mini-casinos
  • A South Philly casino
