It’s a full month of delicious and unique empanadas. The Chelsea neighborhood restaurants are awaiting your taste buds and votes.
That’s why Elizabeth Terenik, President of the Chelsea Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is pleased to announce the 4th annual Empanada Challenge.
An empanada is a baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and delicious filling. So who makes the best empanadas? Try ’em all and cast your vote.
Empanada voters simply need to buy and taste an empanada from at least 2 participating restaurants anytime during the month of September.

4th Annual Empanada Challenge
September 1 – 30, 2023 in Chelsea, Atlantic City.
A celebration and announcement of the overall winner will take place Saturday, October 7 from 1 to 4p at O’Donnell Memorial Park.
Empanada Challenge contestants reflect the flavors and customs of El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Honduras, and Colombia.
