Miss America will keep Atlantic City as her home base for the next three years, even if it will cost $4 million a year.

‘More than our money’s worth’ said CRDA’s John Palmieri, pointing to the high profile, national attention Atlantic City will receive with this 3 year deal.

On Tues, Feb 16, the directors of the CRDA said yes by a vote of 10-2. The only NO votes came from Howard Kyle representing Atlantic County, and Mark Giannantonio of Resorts Casino. (presumably providing a voice for all 8 Atlantic City casinos.)

Dick Clark Productions was referred to as the main point of negotiation with the CRDA. They represented The Miss America Organization in contract talks that were firmed up by late last week. Last year, Dick Clark Productions re-signed with Miss A for another 3 year deal after seeing a one million viewer TV ratings bump….year over year.

Premium, national publicity and real traffic drivers for Atlantic City.

Our 2 cents: The now dead ACA; Atlantic City Alliance, burned through a ridiculous $30 million a year on questionable print, radio & tv ads. Traditional, old school advertising is no longer effective in situations like this. We guess the ACA didn’t get the memo.

What to do? Invest in big name beach concerts, and events like Miss America. They act like big, giant magnets. They provide quantifiable results as in real bodies visiting Atlantic City. Many for the first time in a long time. And for some……for the first time.
