Atlantic City Mayor; Don Guardian spent some quality time with the Mayor of the Morning…..Harry Hurley…. on WPG Talk Radio 1450am on Oct 15.

It was another ‘Ask the Mayor’ segment that’s always worth a listen. Here’s a quick summary of what Mr. G. shared with Harry:

    • Observation Wheel for Steel Pier was built in Italy and is actually now in EHT. Expected to be on Steel Pier by the summer of 2016. But if there is a new pier addition built, then will be delayed a bit
    • ‘Polarcoaster’ on Kentucky Ave will be 35 stories high and will be seen on the Boardwalk. Will have restaurants. Due to open in 2017.
    •  Endeavor’s water park at the former Atlantic Club is due to have a press conference….very soon….maybe this month…in October. Will have a beach bar and the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
    •  When the handsome, rich and always smiling Bart Blatstein finally closes on the Showboat, that’ll free-up Stockton to disclose what they might do in AC.
    •  South Jersey Industries is expanding. Building facilities on Atlantic and Albany Ave. South Jersey Gas (owned by South Jersey Industries) remains in Hammonton.
    •  Street re-paving is ongoing. Many areas are done. Fairmount Ave, which was like a mine field, is half finished.
    •  Revel has group of investors currently in negotiation. They want to act quickly. They’re working well with Council President Frank Gilliam.
    •  Major sporting event will happen next year. Will be announced next week at press conference. (This is with Delmo Sports)
    •  Bader Field to become a sportsplex.
    •  Sports betting will happen.
    •  Boardwalk Hall
    • AC has 1,400,000 sq ft of convention space….and growing
    • New/old idea: Big New Years Eve (like Time Square). Suave Bart Blatstein wants to do a big event like this.
    • Hopeful: Rowan University bringing an Osteopathic Medical School. AtlantiCare involved
    • AC is an Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) like Camden, Trenton and Passaic, NJ. Companies who come here can get sales tax credits for 10 years.
