How to Fix Playground Pier on Atlantic City Boardwalk

Damn, we love that Atlantic City Boardwalk pier in front of Caesars. Shops, dining & spirits. Even a freekin’ Apple store. But man, we hate that name; Playground.

Central location, four levels of awesomeness overlooking the beach, Boardwalk and ocean. But geez, can we finally get someone to properly operate that hidden jewel? Here’s our plan to make it GREAT.

  1. Change that lame name: Playground. (Trust us. Do it)
  2. Lease holder, Bart Blatstein, must kiss & make up with Caesars’ Ortzman. (no tongue)
  3. Caesars realizes successful pier…will pull pier visitors into Caesars gaming areas. Duh.
  4. Take advantage of massive billboards on both sides of the pier. Tell people what’s inside. wtf.
  5. Create MUST SEE attraction on scenic outer-tip of pier. It’s THE best place for executing indoor / outdoor casual food, drink & entertainment destination. It will act as an anchor / magnet, pulling people thru the pier. Duh again.

  1. beautiful place, has so much potential. great starting plan but too much walking not enough close parking has been a problem! Instead of a high end nightclub, do a Cavs themed type of place that would appeal to everyone. I applied for the marketing director position here, when I said I couldn’t make a next day interview I never heard back.? oh well

  2. An indoor water park in the Poconos will soon be the largest in the country.

When Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in Pocono Manor completes the expansion of its water park this spring, the 220,000-square-foot venue will surpass Kalahari’s water park in Sandusky, Ohio, as the nation’s biggest.
The expansion will double the size of the water park and add a wave pool, eight slides, a bigger lazy river, a swim-up bar, activity pool, hot tub, spa and cabanas, the Morning Call reports.
Owner Todd Nelson told the news outlet that the Poconos was a prime location because it can draw customers from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He also described the expanded water park, set for completion in March, as “one of the largest in the world.”

Why haven’t someone built won in AC in all these years??????

Great recommendations by ACPrimetime! Make use of side billboards by taking it up a notch by using HD lighting similar to those outside the Tropicana and telling people what is inside. Brighten the inside with better lighting also. Let people know you are open for business. Negotiate with Caesar’s for gamblers to use their comps at retailers.

  4. from Penny Gelfand. Some fix it ideas for Playground: How about a TJ Maxx, Marshall’s or Nordstrom Rack in the Playground? A WaWa on boardwalk level?

All those families of casino workers walking the boards need something they can afford but yet decent shopping right on the boardwalk. Put the bars and restaurants on the upper levels and have affordable shopping on the first floor.

Yes, we have the outlets, but most local families, pushing baby carriages, are on the boardwalk. How about a Subway, or a fresh salad and fruit stand – fresh being the key word. Why not ask locals what they think should be in the Playground?
