See Pics> Preliminary Work Starts on Atlantic City Inlet Seawall & Boardwalk Project

We had to see it with our own two eyes. Indeed, it’s true. Preliminary work has started on the long awaited Inlet Seawall & Boardwalk Project in Atlantic City. See Pics >

Once completed by the Summer of 2017, you’ll be able to walk, ride, or bike along the boards from the border of Ventnor / Margate, all the way to Gardners Basin & the Atlantic City Aquarium.

Step #1: The Army Corps of Engineers have started demolition of what remains of the old ‘inlet side’  of the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The wooden way will be rebuilt from Rhode Island Avenue to Oriental Avenue

Step #2: New sea wall will be constructed from Caspian Ave to Gardners Basin…and from Atlantic Ave to the ocean front T-Jetty. Work should start by late 2015.

Step #3: Construction of a new inlet boardwalk built behind the protection of a new seawall. Construction from Caspian Avenue to Gardner’s Basin. Work will start next spring 2016.

This $43 million project is being funded by a variety of sources.

  • The Army Corps of Engineers
  • FEMA
  • City of Atlantic City
  • Various State grants
  • New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection
  • New Jersey Economic Development Authority
