“I was terrible at sports”, said Honey Davenport the reigning Miss’D America, the drag queen version of the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City.

“But health and fitness do figure into my day.”

Although she doesn’t go to a gym, Honey works-out five to six days per week while performing on-stage as a drag queen, dancing to hip-hop and pop music favorites. Living in New York City in a neighborhood called Inwood, she gets additional exercise while climbing the steps to her 4th floor apartment several times a day.

Her spirit is evident in her love for fashion and beauty which is exemplified in the glitter and rhinestones that are strewn around her home. These jewels are sewn into her many costumes which are lovingly made by Michael Perez of MJM Designs.

A healthy diet befits her hour-glass figure and even with a hectic schedule, she cooks at home at least once per week for her many friends and guests. The menu includes steamed vegetables and marinated chicken, nutrition that is essential to maintaining the movement that is required during her performances.

Says the 2014/2015 winner who will relinquish her crown at the 2015 Miss’D America Pageant at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, on Saturday, September 26.

“A healthy lifestyle should be an ingrained part of your life and a key to success, and we should raise our kids with this mind.”

Honey is married, but her husband is not a performer. She says there’s room for only one drag queen in the house. It’s been a wonderful year as Miss’D America, but she is looking forward to going back to her life as Honey Davenport, and heading into her ninth year as a top drag queen performer.
