Anti-North Jersey Casino Road Trip to Trenton

A group of concerned Atlantic City residents & business execs went to Trenton on Monday. They wanted state lawmakers to stop plans for two new casinos in North Jersey.

Joe Kelly of the Greater Atlantic City Chamber believes North Jersey casinos would shutter two more casinos witha loss of 14,000 jobs. State Sens. Jim Whelan said “It will be a matter of years, less than 20, less than 10, probably less than five before New York City has casinos.”

The amendment has cleared committees in the Senate and Assembly. It now needs to pass the Legislature with a three-fifths majority vote in order for it to be considered by voters this November.
