CRDA and Palmieri Boosting Retail, Fun, Investment with New Atlantic City Projects

CRDA Executive Director John Palmieri is a busy man. Crazy busy. Palmieri is on a roll with jaw-dropping project completions (Bass Pro Shops) and a growing list of prudent, yet really cool project starts (Hi-tech Boardwalk, The Playground, Steel Pier Additions, etc.). Most of these non-gaming concepts & investments were considered virtually impossible just a few short years ago. Today, they are now the norm in this new Atlantic City.

The centerpiece and jewel of AC is the Boardwalk. Our wooden way is getting some well deserved TLC and attention. The AC Boardwalk will be bolder, brighter and even more secure with the installation of 164 high-tech light poles. The lights will be more efficient and will do a much better job of illuminating the boardwalk & dunes.

The Boardwalk lighting project will allow for 72 new security cameras to be attached these new poles. Cameras will be linked directly to an ACPD (Atlantic City Police Department) surveillance center through a state-of-the art fiber-optic network. The first set of lights and cameras should be ready by early July, with the project fully completed before years end.

The 190 existing, Victorian-style lamp poles on the Boardwalk, will be removed, converted to LED technology, then placed in public parks and other city locations.
