Atlantic City, New Jersey is once again reinventing itself and is ripe for rediscovery. As with the eras of the past, a new day is dawning. The casino era in our great city has seen better days – a 37-year run is nothing to balk at. But, it’s not all over.
Yes, four of the 12 casinos closed in 2014, but eight remain in this community of 17.4 square miles.
Yes, we’ve had some closings and job losses, but don’t count us out just yet. Better days are ahead. Investors are descending on our beachside community, businesses and community leaders are forming alliances to stave off a further decline.
Through our transition, there are many great things to rediscover in Atlantic City – our beaches, The Boardwalk, amusement piers, beach bars, concerts, sightseeing tours, outlet shopping, restaurants, museums, and more!
In addition to these attractions, short term plans are underway for an arts district, the addition of an observation wheel at the world famous Steelpier, a remodel of the Pier Shops at Caesars into the ultimate entertainment pier, The Playground, and a new convention center in the marina district. All this to welcome you back to Atlantic City.
I admit we have a way to go, but we’ll survive. We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again. So, come and see for yourself and we can DO AC together.
