NJ State Considers Takeover of Atlantic City, Again.

Will the State of NJ execute takeover of Atlantic City’s government? If Senator Sweeney gets his way, an effort will soon get started to transfer Atlantic City’s governing duties and powers to the state Local Finance Board.

Under a proposed bill called the Municipal Stabilization and Recovery Act, NJ could dissolve Atlantic City contracts, get rid of municipal authorities or boards, and could sell city-owned assets like water, sewer, utilities and various municipal property.
